the latest TV ad from South Western Railway gets an airing

Every time I watch a new TV ad from a train company I end up thinking the same thing - but probably not the thing they want me to.

And the ad below from South Western Railway is no exception.



Personally, I'm thinking 'That was quite nice, we should take the kids for a day out somewhere'.

Unfortunately, I'm not thinking 'That was quite nice, we should take the kids for a day out somewhere on the train'.

Professionally, I'm thinking 'Great idea, first-class production, brilliant execution but does it give someone a reason to alter their default travel mode and travel to one of the places mentioned, by train?'

I'm never sure if I'm being over-critical in wanting to be persuaded by a TV advert or I just don't quite understand the current (quite similar) creative approach train companies are taking on screen.

Either way, let's hope it gets more people out of their cars and onto SWR trains.
